Washington, DC – Today, following the introduction of the Foreign Pollution Fee Act by Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Mike Carr, Executive Director of the Solar Energy Manufacturers for America (SEMA) Coalition, released the following statement:
“By spearheading the Foreign Pollution Fee Act, Senator Cassidy and Senator Graham are working to create a level playing field for American solar manufacturing workers. For American solar manufacturers to compete, China’s market manipulation excess capacity must be addressed. A big driver of excess capacity is China’s producers' race to the bottom in environmental and labor standards. A foreign pollution fee will recognize and reduce the incentive to continue this anti-competitive behavior and help level the playing field for U.S. manufacturers to continue to build our momentum towards a robust U.S. solar manufacturing sector that supports good-paying manufacturing careers.”
